Major Depression



Feeling down from time to time is a normal part of life,but when emptiness and despair take hold and won't go away, it may be depression.Many people use the word “depression” to explain these kinds of feelings, but depression is much more than just sadness.Depression is one of the most commonly diagnosed psychiatric disorders.It may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods.True clinical depression is a mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss, anger, or frustration interfere with everyday life for weeks or longer.Depression affects people in many different ways and can cause a wide variety of symptoms.Many researchers believe it is caused by chemical changes in the brain.

  • Alcohol or drug abuse.
  • Certain medications
  • Sleeping problems
  • Dtressful life events,such as :
  1. Job loss
  2. Breaking up
  3. Failing a class
